RSPBing

Today was my first day at Turf with the RSPB.
.
Sadly the Spoonbill had departed Exminster Marshes, but an otter had been seen earlier that day crossing the canal (sadly in the wrong direction).
.
The weather was a little iffy to start with, at one point we had to shelter in the pub (oh dear!) but the sun soon came out and so did the punters. Several groups of walkers and cyclists were passing through, as well as a few families eating in the pub garden. The boat from Topsham also brought in quite a few people at lunchtime.
.
We were approaching people with leaflets about the RSPB Exe reserves, and programmes of local events. Also the pin badges on display were popular. One boy chose a Bullfinch - excellent choice, if I say so myself! One girl even remembered me from an A-level Photography class at Exeter College from 7 years ago!
.
By the time we left we had spoken to over 50 people about the RSPB, and people seemed really keen to find out more which is a good sign.
.
The day was completed nicely with a quick but close view of Water Rail by the carpark. Nice!
.
Please pay the RSPB a visit if you happen to be around Turf on weekends. I promise not to try and sell you membership (unless you want it, of course!) but can show you what's been around!!
